The staff at Aquatic Park School are highly qualified and dedicated professionals. They are credentialed and committed to professional development. The teachers are excited about children and value education and have concrete knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood development. The teachers respect each child for who they are and how they learn. They value and honor the families and believe the parent is the child’s first teacher.
With the Anti-bias approach to learning, our teachers honor differences and openly discuss differences with the children. Children are encouraged to express themselves through all available expressive, communicative and cognitive languages. Teachers guide the children and follow their lead. education and childhood development. Staff Retention Program: At Aquatic Park School we designed a staff retention program to help retain teachers to promote continuity of care for the children. Parents roll over their yearly deposit into a staff fund. Also, application/registration fees and parent participation fees are collected for this fund throughout the year. Staff receives the money as a bonus once a year in July for completing a year with their group. Staff Development Program: Each year, teachers are encouraged to participate in professional development activities. As part of staff development, APS supports research inquiry and educational roundtables during the year, so that staff may remain current with the latest practices or discoveries in Goals: • Maintain a safe, loving and supportive environ-
ment necessary for emotional development. • Teach ecological responsibility. • Interact with children organically – to observe,
intercede creatively and respectfully. • To nurture what is special in every child. • To give children time and space to explore, and
to work things out themselves. • To provide activities and an environment that is
developmentally appropriate, fun, and interesting to the children. • To document the children’s progress in the child
