Programs

APS is a unique environment, buzzing with the energy of children, parents and teachers. We have two programs: Infant/Toddlers(I/T) and Preschool. Infant toddlers range from 3 months to 28 months and preschool age is 2 years to kindergarten.

Infant / Toddler (I/T)
With four babies and eight toddlers, this program is a haven of safe and nurturing learning. Our intimate infant program allows us to follow each individual child’s play. In the spirit of Magna Gerber's philosophy of “educaring”, teachers create a playful, loving environment where each child is given both individual attention and opportunities for independent discovery.

Infants and toddlers also enjoy the outdoors and can both play and watch the older children:

Infant yard, especially designed for the young ones to explore a clean and safe outdoor area.

Preschool
In different classrooms, children of each age/grade level are encouraged to express themselves through a wide variety of mediums including the literary arts, music, movement, sensory activities, painting and imaginary play, while learning and mastering self help skills.

We have learning stations throughout the school where children can choose from a variety of activities including: writing, drawing, painting, reading, manipulation and coordination practice, playhouse, music and movement, blocks, and puzzles. Each day offers ample time for the children to explore the large, newly-remodeled outdoor area.

We believe that our outdoors is a classroom and learning takes place naturally in the natural environment.

Program features include:

Classroom-based projects and work-stations - children work together to explore and describe the structures, the art, the sounds, and the movements they create.

Outdoors activities - include walking trips to explore nature, sandbox play, climbing, sharing, and circle time.

Group lunchtime - gathering for lunches brought from home.

Naptime - a quiet rest period during the day when children can sleep, observe silence or help the younger folks get comfortable.

Snack - We offer healthy, organic snacks and provide special provisions for children with allergies and special diets.

Supplemental Enrichment Classes – includes Capoeira, Dance, Yoga, and Spanish and Chinese language classes.  Music is infused throughout our curriculum

Literacy Development – Children are immersed in reading and writing material throughout the entire day.
